Mary is continuing to have lots of physio and therapies at the RNRU. She is also sitting out in her wheelchair everyday. This all tires her out but is important to maintain the movement she does have on her right side and to see how she can progress with all the neurological stuff.
Mary has recently had botox in her arm on her right side which has had some positive results. She always told me she would grow old gracefully rather than resort to botox, but of course I doubted this in any case. I think she'd quite like the idea. The botox is helping to maintain the range of movement in her arm - although she is usually unable to move this on its own just at the moment. A splint is also being made for this arm to help maintain some movement.
Lots of you have been asking for specific areas for prayer. The main area for prayer at the moment is Mary's communication. The team had been hoping that Mary would be able to use the small movements she is making in her thumb on her right side to access music with a switch. This would also help her - perhaps - to process a cause and effect movement. Right now her movement with this thumb is still inconsistent and she is not able to use the switch. If she progresses to use it it may be that she could at some point use this as a 'yes' 'no'. Please also continue to pray against infection, mary seems to have got rid of the line of chest infections at the moment which is great progress. Drs are continuing to try different medications to help her movements but to also avoid fatigue at this stage.
Thanks for all your continued love, support and prayers for Mary
