Visting Mary

Mary has got over her infection and is much, much better. She seems more alert and several of us have thought she has been trying to make sounds or speak. Speech and language therapists are continuing to work with Mary to ascertain whether this is the case, but because some days are better than others for Mary (as for all of us!) this takes a bit of time.

I (Laura) am moving to Cambridge for a couple of years to train as a vicar. I'm probably going to be able to see Mary a little less during this time, so if you are wondering about whether you can go and visit Mary, please do. Whereas I have previously coordinated visits, this is now going to be done directly by the carers on St Louis ward, at the Marilliac. So, if you would like to see Mary, its best if you give them a call the day before, to find out if its a good time. Generally, the best times to visit for Mary, are after 10.30/11am, and not too late in the evening.

As she is seeming to be a little more responsive I think she really will enjoy short visits. If you read to her or chat to her and you get any responses please use the log book or let a carer know.

All their contact details and how to locate the Marilliac are here

You can post cards and other things straight to Mary at the Marilliac, or if you prefer you can send these to me at Wescott House, Cambridge, CB5 8BP. And of course still feel free to keep in touch with me, or let me know how you got on when visting :)
