Change of Address...

Today it was confirmed that Mary will move to a rehab centre tomorrow am. This is welcome news for all of us. It means a little further of a commute for most visitors, but for Mary it should provide an environment that can give her the stimulation and care she needs at the moment.

Depending on Mary's progress there, the placement could be fairly short term (3-4months). The ideal would be for her to be weaned off the tracheostomy at this rehab centre, and then be able to transfer to another centre closer to home, which could also provide more intensive physiotherapy and speech and language therapy in the long term. We'll see.

No doubt we have so much to be thankful for in the excellent care she has received at the Royal London Hospital. From doctors who literally saved her life to nurses who have waited on her day and night with such care and endless attention. No doubt they will all miss having Mary around, I noticed a few emotional exchanges as I left her this evening. Mary always likes to make an impression...
