Mary is continuing to be sat out in her wheelchair. Over the
last week its obvious that even sitting in this new position is very tiring for
her, and over the last few days she has been very sleepy as a result.
There is not news yet on Mary’s move to rehab. It is
becoming more obvious that the logistics of these kinds of moves, the politics
of funding and NHS hoops to jump through are never straightforward. And this is
only the first hurdle. Mary will no doubt move around quite a bit in her road
to recovery. But there are plenty of brilliant people helping us out and trying
to make things happen at a pace that is best for Mary and her progression.
There is some encouragement to be gained by the fact that because
of the low level that Mary’s brain currently is forced to function on, Mary
will (at the moment) not be anxious or lonely or bored in her hospital bed. She
will not be irritated and annoyed (as many of us are) that the process of
moving seems so complex. Instead, she seems relatively content sleeping, and
making her trips to the window in the new chair for a little bit of English
sunshine when its available. And Mary continues making strides every day, her
tiredness often masking what is going on under the surface.
