Beatles and Sunshine

Mary is continuing to do well at the rehab centre. There are loads more opportunities for her to be stimulated and begin to do some 'normal' activities. This week Dad and Liz were able to push Mary around the grounds (which are really lovely gardens) in the sunshine. At another point Mary was able to join in listening to some music in a therapy group and seemed to respond to it by opening her eyes very wide - especially to the Beatles!

Most of the time Mary is very sleepy, but it seems that if she has the energy, she is stimulated by a change of scenery, like a different room, a piece of art or a photo. She also seems to open her eyes wide to more familiar voices and, of course, to music!

Mary's wheelchair is being especially fitted for her, to support her head which she tends to lean to her right side, and her neck. She is being amazingly well cared for, as all those who have been able to visit so far can testify to, there has certainly been so much more peace-of-mind saying goodbye to Mary where she is now compared to the hospital environment she had been in for so long.
